One of Many Success Stories:

Learning to read is changing our daughter’s life. Reading is empowering Jodie to reach her most productive, vibrant, and independent self. It is opening doors to more learning. It wasn't always this way... At the end of kindergarten, our daughter could not even identify basic letters. The school experts could not identify the problem. You see, Jodie has learning differences.

We wanted Jodie to learn to read – not just memorize a few common words. The Texas Reading Institute believed she could learn. Today’s good news: she now reads on a first grade level.
Weekly sessions at the Texas Reading Institute made it all Possible. Assessment identified the reasons for her struggle reading. A step-by-step plan was developed to teach her the components necessary for reading. Experienced reading clinicians provided instruction customized to meet our daughter’s needs. The Institute even taught us how to work with her at home, to reinforce her learning and to speed her progress and confidence.

As Jodie has become more fluent and confident in reading, she has become more energetic in the classroom and has assumed greater responsibility for her writing and homework.

The Institute asks your help in providing scholarships for children whose families cannot afford the specialized instruction their children need.

You can help by doing something you already do and without any extra expense. Simply renew your current newspaper and magazine subscriptions through FamilyLiteracy.Net Foundation, a joint project of the Texas Reading Institute and The National Heritage Foundation.

You win and a Child Learns to Read. You get competitive prices. FamilyLiteracy.Net Foundation receives 40% of every subscription dollar to fund scholarships. The 40% is a tax-deductible donation, for which we send you a receipt.

Partnering with Readers' Digest, The Foundation is offering competitive rates on over 700 periodicals and newspapers. Chances are good that your mainstream and special interest subscriptions are on the enclosed list.

Spend no more and support a deserving child!
